Fox Ridge Nature Park project

Check out our new page on the upcoming Fox Ridge Nature Park project!

We hope to keep the public updated on the progress the county parks department is making on acquiring and converting into a nature park the former Fox Ridge golf course.

Wooden playground equipment on its way out

Please be mindful of playground equipment at Ouabache Trails with caution tape around it. Those are all wood construction pieces and we plan to remove them from the park next year because they are no longer safe to be played on. Thank you.

Campground closed for the year

Thank you to everyone who camped at Ouabache Trails this year. Our campground is closed down for 2012 so we can focus on getting ready for our Christmas light display. We hope to see all of you campers up there again next summer!

It was a success!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Oktoberfest music show at Ouabache Trails! And thank to all the vendors and bands who supported us and extra thanks to Brett Alvis and Alvis Music! We hope you will all come out again next year!

Disc-golf course grand opening this Saturday.

Don’t forget to come out this Saturday to Hillcrest Park for the grand opening of our nine-hole disc-golf course. We’ll have food and drinks to give away, a remote broadcast with WZDM and demonstrations of how to play the game. Eagle Scout Zach Kirk, who helped build the course, will also be there to help kick it off.  We’ll have a ribbon cutting at 11:00 a.m. and the live broadcast will start at noon. Come down and help us celebrate a successful park project.

Ant farm progress

We’ve got ants in our ant farm now. It’s just a matter of time before there are many, many more.

Many thanks to volunteer Shawn Britt for his hard work helping us put it together and in getting live specimens in our nature center.
